*A Note from Onthepath:

Cassandra was a good friend of one of the Onthepath members. Unfortunately, she started suffering from severe depressions after her little daughter died at the age of 5 days. Her depression was diagnosed and treated with conventional Western medicine – and medication. The treatment was unsuccessful: Cassandra committed suicide exactly one year after she had given birth to her daughter. Her poem was written shortly before her death and found in a file with letters and other writings that she had left and dedicated to one of our members. It was partly because of Cassandra’s depression and suicide that Onthepath was founded: we hope to help people find the paths that lead to happiness instead of despair.

Gudrun Dreher, from: Colorful Moments

The Path of Tea
~ in Response to Kiki Van der Heiden’s Painting ~
.
This is not
the path of roses but the path
of tea leaves,
green and purple,
the colors of the heart
and of the third
eye.
.
Come in, have some tea,
you say — and you take a hand-
ful of leaves
and let them fall
one by one
into the pot.
.
This is the moment
of making tea.
.
Nothing else seems to be but you
and me and these dried
leaves of tea that release
one by one their soul
into the steaming water.
.
Come, taste it, you say, and drink
this moment,
.
this presence of leaves, breathe
.
this purple, this green –
and walk, cup by full cup,
this path of green.
.
Remember, there is nothing
but what is right under your feet:
rock after rock of purple and green –
a whole path
full of fresh moments
of leaves.
